Sorry about Monday- fell asleep on the couch, but in my defense I was doing some serious waiting for Kevin to get off my computer!
Madison has completed day two of her standardized testing. So far so good, only three more days to go. Tomorrow is math...... that'll be her hump to get over, then its clear sailing straight through sociology and geography ( I think?)
Ellie is very anxious for St Patrick's Day tomorrow- picking out her green accessories to go with her uniform so she won't get "pinched by a leprechaun". I think she is excited to see if her trap at school caught a leprechaun. She worked hard on her science fair project over the weekend, didn't even lose focus during the less than fun research part.
Madison has started her actual experiment part of hers- 3 days of giving Aggie toys to choose from in the categories of texture, sound and smell......then the fourth day is the toy-off where the top three square off. All this in the name of "environmental enrichment" which is apparently something animal husbandry experts do with their animals- I think she will have a neat project when she is done. I can tell you Aggie is "enriched" already- she is loving having three toys placed in front of her each morning- so cute to watch her actually contemplate and pick out her favorite. You should have seen Aggie on the weekend when she accidentally came across Madison preparing for the experiment and had 9 toys all over the floor- Aggie did a double take and went after the first two toys she could reach.
Remember the baby/flour sack project with my second year nursing students? Well this week the babies will finally pay their way....... we are busting them open to make home made play dough out of them. The students are making models of wounds and most couldn't afford to get clay for making them- so we are going old school and what better use of resources then to crack open a baby-flour sack or two? The one we won't break open..........by special request the boy who had drawn the baby face on his has asked that his baby be spared.
Such a contrast between my students as I know them to be and the heinous things that sometimes go on at the school- this week 5 of our Southern High students have been charged with murder. I just can't fathom it. What kind of life do these kids lead that would end in them murdering someone? I just can't fathom it.
