Endurance....

All is well.

Nothing new to report here.
Routine as usual.
Maddy and Ellie are having a normal week at school- gearing up for the standardized testing next week, the Terra Novas. Maddy has no issues with this, but Ellie seems to be a bit worried. This is her first year doing them, and she has brought it up more than once that she wishes she didn't have to. So different in attitude than Maddy who has always taken these tests without blinking. I'll let you know next week how she does....
Ellie is loving her Chamorro dance class she is taking. Can't wait to see her in action in a show. Any of the "moves" she has shown me have been really cute :)
Nothing to report (unfortunately) regarding Kevin's next job..... still waiting.....

Sunday

Sunday came and went and I don't even think I blinked....
Church as usual, followed by a yummy round of Yogurtland, finishing out the first half of the day in Hagatna at National Office Supply- its always shocking that an office supply store is interesting to go into.... weird.
Spent the afternoon with my laundry piles and a fun new obsession- Glee. I rented season 1 on a whim Friday night...... and REALLY enjoyed it! I've rented the beginning of season 2.... somebody stop me! Honestly you should give it a try- I already told Melda, but Julie and Barb would especially like it :)

Our supper was spent with the Thornton's. It's been really too long since we hung out with them. Had some pizza and some fun. I have been completely chastised by my daughters on the fact that we don't see the Thornton's enough. I will have to remedy that :) So nice seeing them tonight.

Saturday.

Thanks to my friend Mitsico, I got some Thai spice and tried my hand at green curry. It was fun making it- unfortunately as per Kevin, it tasted like "creamy stir fry"...... don't worry, I'm not giving up!
It did go really well with my Thailand coffee that Jodi brought me!
Thanks Jodi!

The girls had a bit of a down-time day, no morning practice. This is them cleaning their room:
You are right, there isn't much cleaning going on. They disappeared into their room for about an hour and a half and more mess happened than cleaning occurred. But they had fun while it happened- and of course cleaned up when they were done.

This is especially great since last week there was a tiff.
Maddy had caused an upheaval- there was the telling of an embarrassing story in front of Aunty Jodi...... it ended with Ellie crowning Maddy multiple times with a book, followed by Ellie bawling for the rest of the evening. Ellie was disciplined for hitting (of course) and what I said to Maddy was "you broke your sister, you better fix her".
This is how she "fixed" her:
I was impressed- and slightly weirded out that a spa day is her version of making things better....
Anyway, today was the spa day....
Nice to see it all working out.

4.0!

Maddy made the Principal's List with straight A's.
We are so happy with how well she is doing. Really impressive. What is equally impressive- that both Kevin and I were there to see it!
Congratulations Maddy!

Can't say it was the best day....

Jodi left this morning so I had a weepy Maddy before school- then a weepy Ellie after school. But the sadness of her leaving is a true testament to how much we love her and appreciate the HUGE effort she put into visiting.
We'll just have to look forward to seeing her in the summer :)

I had a program that was to start in my classroom today- a life coach type person to be in once a week with my students. One hour after she arrived I got a call that she was to stop teaching immediately because there was a paper work problem- so that was that.

Kevin got word today that congress' budget still isn't going to be settled for at least two more weeks- so we are still up in the air about if we are moving this summer or not. Literally it will take an act of congress to get us off this island.

But the day is ending with my girls tucked safely into bed, some comedies on the DVR, and my bedtime is in sight.
So really, it can't be all that bad of a day right?

Jodi's last night

Two happy girls yesterday-
But tonight- a different story.
Aunty Jodi is leaving tomorrow and we are really feeling it- funny how a little isolation (being on the other side of the world) can make a visit that much more important. Just so you can compare, packages in the mail are cause for major celebration- so you can kinda see how Jodi visiting has been a major event.

This photo is a funny "OOG" photo:
Its kinda hard to see, but it is Jodi and Ellie getting out of the car last night to chase the toads off the driveway so that I can pull the car in. Not an unusual event with us- nothing worse than squishing a toad.

Today, had Jodi in one of my classes to talk about her career and Haiti. It went so well, she did a great job and they LOVED having her in there.
Tonight we headed to the Chamorro village before swim team.
Unfortunately we didn't get to do much more than get this photo of the girls with a caribou. Right after we got there, we found out they were closing for the night due to a car having run into the village causing major trauma. So that was that..... we moved on.....
Ruby Tuesdays was a close second for our choice activity for tonight.

Ellie had just enough time at the village before it closed to buy a sarong for her Chamorro dance class.
And a quick photo of Maddy and Daddy doing some math homework before bed...... I really love that the math responsibility has been taken over.... one less thing...
Can't even begin to say how much we will be missing Jodi- I will be doing a lot of consoling, especially for Maddy.... though Ellie isn't far behind on the "sadness" scale.
We love you Jodi, thanks SO much for going out of your way to be here for your nieces. Can't tell you how much we appreciate you.
