Birthday Week

Ellie turns 9 this week, and its turning into "week o' Ellie".

We did Ellie's family birthday supper tonight - Domino's, mmmmm

She was allowed to open one gift- she opened one of Grandma Gillam's packages.... hairbands from Claires! You seriously just don't know what something from Claires does for a girl on this island. A lot of stories end with "... it was so cool, and she got it at Claires". Ellie was sooo excited- and didn't even mind handing over the hot pink one to share with her sister. Really cute hairbands, thanks so much Ann!

Ellie's actual birthday is Thursday- so we will have meatball subs that night, but not a big family meal as she has swim team.

Saturday she has chosen to have two friends go to lunch and get their nails done.... so cute, so grown up!

Today was day one back to school. Maddy had her usual hard time- lots of tears. She was "bribed" with the promise that if she kept it together she could download a book after school. She was also diverted by the excitement about a box of books coming in the mail from my Mom.... thanks for that Mom!

I kinda know how she feels- I REALLY didn't want to go back today.... but as my friend Melda puts it, there are only like 14 Mondays left in the school year! I like that math :)
