Monday

to Graeme!
We miss you and hope your day is great.

Nice night- Ellie's choice night!
Food choice..... nachos! (yes Sue, nachos for dinner :)
Games choice...... not a game at all- a movie for tonight. Sorcerer's Apprentice.
Not the Mickey one.
The Nicholas Cage one. It was pretty good. My kind of movie- fun with mild sarcasm. Ellie chose it, Maddy concurred, and they've both seen it. So you know they liked it- enough to see it twice!
Kevin was at work late (not unusual on family games night). This time he was late related to the aftermath of the tsunami we never really had.
So sad about Japan- a second explosion at the nuclear plant tonight. Our thoughts are with them.

Sunday

Kevin, the girls and myself spent the morning at church (as usual) but skipped Yogurtland this week (much to Ellie's very loudly voiced dismay- subsequently we won't be at Yogurtland again until the beginning of April..... man, I hate it when punishments affect me!). Kevin wanted to get home quickly to get at the grocery shopping (his new weekend job). The girls finished up their chores just in time to meet the Thornton's at the pool for over two hours of great play time. Followed by dinner out at Molly McGee's:
Not an over-the-top great restaurant.... but an affordable, nice place for all of us to get together where the kids can play billiards and shuffleboard during supper time! I think this would be my new Sunday night choice for our two families to get together :) Had a nice time!
Home for an early-ish bedtime..... the standardized testing starts tomorrow- the dreaded Terra Novas! I'll let you know how day one goes.....

Happy Birthday Ross!!!!!!

We love you and miss you and your happy songs :)

Good times, good times....

Post- Tsunami Issues

At approximately 8 p.m. the nuclear submarines USS Houston and USS Corpus Christi mooring lines broke free from the pier at Alpha Wharf because of the tsunami. Tug boats responded and safely moored the submarines back to the wharf. The USS Oklahoma submarine and the submarine tender USS Frank Cable weren't affected. According to Navy officials, the recovery took about five to six hours. No injuries were reported and after initial inspections, no damage was reported.

Needless to say kevin had a long night with all the issues followed by follow-up meetings today.
The girls had a swim meet- Ellie took 1 sec off her 100 breast putting her in for a solid B time. Swim practice in the evening- all the ups and downs of the last two days has really worn us out. We're hoping for an early bedtime.... so tired!

The Lord willing and if the creek don't rise....

Yes we are under a Tsunami warning as we speak.
We went to swim practice even though there was a Tsunami warning in effect.... cause you know our crazy swim team- they swim no matter what!
We did leave practice early and had a safe drive home- lots of cars evacuating to higher ground. Fortunately they were evacuating north and we were driving south..... which should have been a hint to us that we were going the wrong way :) Seriously, all is well- and no worries cause we live on a hill..... of sorts.

This morning Ellie was all ready for her culture day at school:
Their class was to sing the Fanohge Chamorro (Guam Hymn) for the school. Ellie does a really nice job of it:
FYI the helper voice you hear part way through is Maddy- so it seems the girl who is always negating Guam and its culture knows its national hymn....... huh!

I'll update everyone tomorrow on our tsunami status..... no worries though, all is well...... the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise!

Quick post....

First off a HUGE thank you to Barb :) We got the package today and there are some happy girls in this house (including me!). So excited to get some new shirts- we really are lacking shopping here..... Maddy loved this shirt and Ellie didn't take her shirt off all night, even wore it over her suit to practice tonight.
Weekend is fast approaching- swim meet Saturday!

For my family, I just want to say how sorry I am for the loss of Grandpa Dockman. He was a lot of things over the years, but to me- how he was with his family has shown me the importance of loving my family. I thank him for that bit of knowledge.

All is well.

Nothing new to report here.
Routine as usual.
Maddy and Ellie are having a normal week at school- gearing up for the standardized testing next week, the Terra Novas. Maddy has no issues with this, but Ellie seems to be a bit worried. This is her first year doing them, and she has brought it up more than once that she wishes she didn't have to. So different in attitude than Maddy who has always taken these tests without blinking. I'll let you know next week how she does....
Ellie is loving her Chamorro dance class she is taking. Can't wait to see her in action in a show. Any of the "moves" she has shown me have been really cute :)
Nothing to report (unfortunately) regarding Kevin's next job..... still waiting.....
