Spring Break- day 6 & 7

Sorry I missed blogging last night.
But I wasn't home....
Guess where we went!
Ellie pulled the blindfold trick again (she wanted to stay surprised)
Here is a hint:
And another hint.... overnight bags....
Yup, you guessed- we went to a hotel for an overnighter getaway!
We went to PIC down in Tumon, stayed in the hotel overnight and did every activity they had at the resort including trampoline fun:
And lots of water fun- here Maddy is pulling Kevin in on a tug of war game:
All sorts of water slides, fun pools, and deck chairs with umbrellas for me to sit and relax :)
There was even a salt water reef area stocked with fish for up close snorkeling:
Plus a local Chamorro "class" where they teach the uses of coconut and palm leaf weaving:
We sincerely could not have had a better time. Two days of continuous water fun- with a hotel room stay in there. A great relaxing time.

Spring Break- day 5

Guess where we went today!
Ellie wanted to be surprised right till the end so she blindfolded herself (cause really, on an island its pretty easy to guess where you are going by what village you are driving to- not many options to be fooled by!)
Here is a hint:
And notice the big whale tale behind the girls here:
You guessed! Underwater World!
Really had a great time (Ellie said "best day ever")
checking out all the marine life in this huge "tank" tunnel.
.... of course a local guy was slipped in there too.... brown tree snake :P
But the whole thing is one big long tunnel (longest in the world apparently?) where the fish and such swim all around you. One really fun part were questions that you had to answer throughout the tour- the girls loved that.
Here you see Kevin and the girls looking up at marine life swimming over them,
the girls had never seen most of these things up close.
Here is one of many sharks that swam over us. Not to mention sea turtles, manta rays and groupers bigger than Kevin.
We had a really great time.
Ellie was most impressed with the sea turtles, Maddy with an x-large grouper named "Lyle".
Here are some cool decorative sea turtles lining the wall outside the aquarium.
We went to California Pizza Kitchen for dinner. All this was down in Tumon which is the tourism area of Guam- so everything is SO nice and well kept. Really like another world from the rest of Guam. A nice "vacation-y" feel for one of our days off.

Spring Break- day 4

Happy girls on a happy vacation! Dad was in charge today while I worked.
Lots of movie watching (I think the official count as of tonight after a family viewing of "Tron" is 3 and 1/2), lots of outside playing and lots of inside playing time- calico critters:
always a favorite.
The most impressive to me:
laundry done
supper made and kitchen cleaned.
Awesome way to start my three days off :)

Spring Break- day 3

We pulled a classic Sunday move for our day three..... church followed by pool time with the Thorntons.
FYI Kevin never did make it into the water. He is starting his weeks vacation early- reading poolside!
Finishing up with Molly McGee's games room for supper with the Thorntons.
Movies have been rented to add a little spice to the following days- but beyond that and Kevin and my work schedules (Kevin working Tuesday and Friday and I'm working Monday and Friday), we really have no solid plans this week. The one goal is to do at least one fun thing per day :) I'll let you know how we do.

And had to show you this photo Julie sent:
This is one of my favorite buddies- Julie and Paul's dog Buster..... so cute. I miss that puppy!

Happy Birthday to my sincere BFF Julie! You are just simply THE best :)

Spring Break- day 2

Busy day- morning was at a swim meet (Ellie took mass time off her 100 back!)
Then we had a play date with two swimming friends.
The girls had a great time.
Even Aggie was cozied up with the group.
I think there will be a repeat day soon :)

Spring Break- day 1

Fun day- mostly because we got to spend it with some Thornton boys!
Went to see the movie "Hop" (first theater had a listing for 10am but told us they were closed when we got there? Really?). Ate at Denny's first- haven't been there yet since we have gotten on island...... didn't quite feel as American as the ones back in the states- especially since there was charizo sausage and finedeni on the menu.
The theater was nice, with stadium seating!
Home just in time to pick up subway and head out to swimming.

I took this photo below to prove its possible:
My two girls are enjoying each other more and more lately. I caught them in the act of smiling and laughing together- talking like friends.
Does my heart good :)
